The VB-Cable Setup Guide for Interview AI Tools
VB-Cable is a free virtual audio driver that creates a software audio cable on your Windows computer. It is essential for routing meeting audio into AI interview tools like Interview AI Buddy.
Step 1: Download VB-Cable from vb-audio.com. Run the installer as administrator. Restart your computer after installation.
Step 2: Open your Sound Settings. Set "VB-Cable Input" as your default playback device. This routes all system audio through the virtual cable.
Step 3: In your meeting app (Zoom, Teams, etc.), set the speaker output to "VB-Cable Input." This sends the interviewer audio through VB-Cable where the AI tool can capture it.
Step 4: In Interview AI Buddy settings, select "VB-Cable Output" as the audio input. The app will now hear everything your interviewer says.
Troubleshooting: If you cannot hear the interviewer yourself, enable "Listen to this device" in the VB-Cable properties under the Recording tab. This lets you hear the audio while the AI tool also captures it.
For Mac users, use BlackHole (free, open-source) instead of VB-Cable. The setup is similar — create a multi-output device in Audio MIDI Setup that sends audio to both your speakers and BlackHole.
