Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Interview AI Buddy ("we", "our", "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service.
2. Data We Collect
Account data: your email address, hashed password, and subscription status. Usage data: aggregate counts of questions answered (not the questions themselves). Device data: a hashed device identifier used for single-device enforcement. Payment data: handled entirely by our payment processor (LemonSqueezy); we never see or store your payment card details.
3. Audio and Interview Content
Audio captured by the App is processed entirely in real time. It is sent to our speech-to-text provider (Deepgram) for transcription using a short-lived session key. Audio is never stored on our servers, never recorded to disk, and never retained after the session ends. Your interview questions and AI answers are never logged or stored.
4. AI Processing
Transcribed text is sent to AI inference providers (Groq and OpenAI) via our backend proxy to generate answers. This text is transmitted over encrypted connections and is governed by those providers' data processing agreements. We do not use your interview content to train AI models.
5. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: (a) provide and maintain the App; (b) manage your subscription and billing; (c) enforce single-device limits; (d) send transactional emails (e.g., receipts, account notices); (e) respond to support requests.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with: (a) payment processors (LemonSqueezy) for billing; (b) AI providers (Groq, OpenAI, Deepgram) for real-time processing only; (c) hosting infrastructure (Railway, Vercel) to run the service. All third parties are contractually required to protect your data.
7. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Usage count data (which contains no personally identifiable information) may be retained in aggregate for analytics.
8. Security
All data is transmitted over TLS-encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. API keys and secrets are stored as environment variables and never exposed to clients. We conduct regular security reviews.
9. Cookies
The website (interviewaibuddy.com) uses only strictly necessary session cookies for authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or third-party trackers.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; delete your account and data; export your data in a machine-readable format; withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email support@interviewaibuddy.com.
11. Children
The App is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have done so in error, contact us immediately.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
